To have a profitable blog, you need to know your audience. You have to research your headlines to get a higher ranking at search engines. For example, when I Google "Make Money" there is 2,330,000,000 hits at the time of writing! It is hard for anyone to find YOUR blog page with that competition. If you change your blog post headline to "Make Money Sitting at Home", Google finds 238,000 instead. Much higher chances for someone to find your blog then. Also, make sure it still is something that people might search for. A good balance is the key! To optimize that, you can search a good Headline and/or use Google Keyword Tool (free) to find out how many searches/months are made for that phrase. Anything between 7000-15000 searches/month is ideal while your blog hasn't reached stardom yet. It will rise, eventually, with Your popularity!
Remember: Headlines are important so You don't get lost in the web..
So, where does the money come from?
That is a very good question indeed.. It is all about advertising!
You can sign up for various affiliate programs, but you have to remember to promote products/services that you write about!
If you write about gardening, you will promote gardening services/products.
If you write about weight loss/fitness, you will promote weight loss/fitness services/products.
Then all you need to do is to search for web-based companies that offers what you want to promote. Some give you direct commissions (commissions/sale) and some gives residual commission per customer that signs up through Your link. There are MANY sellers out there but remember to research their credibility because there are many bad apples in the tree! Don't rush in to the first you find!
I have had the misfortune to promote those "bad apples", but in time I (and you will too) have learned to pick out the right, real stuff. Take your time, research and review. There are millions of users who have written a review on all of the programs out there. Many of them have good/bad personal experiences, you can often mail them for a more personal review.
